More detailed directions
Here is a more detailed version of the information above.
Most news websites and blogs provide something called an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed, so that readers can be notified when new content is published on the site.
You can follow all your favourite sites this way. You could subscribe to the Gabriola Sounder, Gabriola Land & Trails Trust, GIRO, and GFPID Chronicles in your RSS reader. You would then get notified when any one of these sites has new content for you to read. What a time-saver: you would not need to visit all these sites every morning, just to see if one of them has updated. Instead, your feed reader would alert you to new content, and provide links to it.
1. Start by selecting an RSS reader
You might already have a software program that can read RSS feeds! For example, the desktop versions of the Vivaldi web browser and the Thunderbird email program both have built-in RSS readers. You might like one of those, or you might prefer a program that is just for RSS, which is likely to have more and better features.
There are RSS readers for your desktop or laptop computers:
- Mac. Best RSS Readers Apps for Mac suggests some options.
- Windows. Make Tech Easier lists best RSS readers for Windows.
- Linux. It's FOSS lists Best Feed Reader Apps for Linux Desktop.
Or you could use an app on your phone. There are RSS apps for:
